As we all know, Cena will debut as Peacemaker in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad this August.

Gunn is closely working with the Peacemaker TV show, having directed five of the eight episodes of the HBO Max series coming out in January of 2022.

While speaking to Empire Magazine, Gunn spoke about why a character like Peacemaker is getting his own TV Show.

“Peacemaker has a clear set of ideals that I find really interesting,” Gunn said to Empire Magazine. “You know: ‘I want peace no matter how many men, women and children I need to kill to get it.’ Sounds like nonsense, but it also makes a lot of sense. And you see in John’s performance how he does not feel good about it – something I thought was the seed of an entire eight-episode show.”
