Sadie Sink Joins Cast of ‘Spider-Man 4’

According to Deadline, Sadie Sink, renowned for her role as Max Mayfield in “Stranger Things,” will join the cast of the upcoming “Spider-Man 4.” The film is slated for release on July 31, 2026, with Destin Daniel Cretton, known for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” set to direct.

Which Marvel Character Will Sadie Sink Be Playing?

While specific details about Sink’s character remain under wraps, speculation is rife among fans and industry insiders. The prevailing theory suggests she might portray Jean Grey, a powerful telepathic and telekinetic member of the X-Men. This speculation aligns with ongoing discussions about integrating the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and Sink has been rumored to play Jean for months.

Alternatively, some believe Sink could take on the role of Mary Jane Watson, a character traditionally depicted as a redhead in the Spider-Man comics. However, due to Zendaya previously portraying Michelle Jones-Watson in the previous three Spider-Man films, having another character named MJ Watson seems like a bit of a stretch.

Spider-Man 4 Filming and Timeline

Tom Holland is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker, with the storyline picking up after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where Parker’s identity was erased from public memory. The film will also take place after “Avengers Doomsday.” Due to the production of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” a stunt double in a mask will film much of Holland’s role as Spider-Man in the Avengers film, leading many to believe we will barely see Peter without his mask on.

Zendaya is also expected to return as MJ in “Spider-Man 4,” though reports indicate her role may be reduced due to other filming commitments, including “Dune: Messiah.”

The inclusion of Sink marks a significant addition to the franchise, especially as “Stranger Things” approaches its conclusion with its fifth season. Sink’s recent endeavors include a role on Broadway in “John Proctor Is the Villain” and the film “O’Dessa,” highlighting her expanding repertoire.

Production for “Spider-Man 4” is anticipated to commence later this year, following Holland’s completion of his work on “The Odyssey.”

As the MCU continues to evolve, the casting of Sink has ignited discussions about potential plotlines and character developments. Whether introducing elements of the X-Men or reimagining classic characters, fans eagerly await further announcements regarding this highly anticipated sequel.
